Preparing for Your Motor Freight Delivery

Thank you for choosing the Polycarbonate Store! We’re here to help you get ready for your motor freight delivery. Knowing what to expect and planning ahead will make the process smooth and hassle-free. Here’s what you need to know:

Semi-Truck freight delivery

What is Motor Freight Delivery?

Motor freight shipments typically arrive by large semi-trucks. These trucks need sufficient space to access your address. If you live on a hill, have a long driveway, or limited truck access, special arrangements may be required. In the context of residential deliveries, "delivery" refers to the truck arriving at your address, but unloading the shipment from the truck is not included and will be your responsibility at the time your driver arrives.

How Will My Shipment Be Packed?

Your polycarbonate panels will arrive in a sturdy wood crate, built to protect your materials during transport. Crates may be flat or vertical and could feature a combination of wood and cardboard, sometimes wrapped or banded. The exact dimensions will depend on your order, with a typical width of 4 feet 5 inches for full sheets. Empty crates generally weigh between 150 and 200 pounds.

Unloading Your Shipment

The truck’s bed will be high off the ground, and drivers are not required to assist with unloading. Please ensure you have the necessary equipment and help ready at the scheduled delivery time. Here are your unloading options:

  1. Forklift or Tractor: Use a forklift or tractor with long extensions to remove the crate from the truck.
  2. Manual Unloading: Open the crate while it’s still on the truck and remove the items piece by piece. This method will require two or more people to handle the materials safely.

Additional Services

If you need extra assistance, the following services may be available for an additional fee:

  • Lift Gate Service: Lowers the crate from the truck to the ground.
  • Extra Helper: Provides additional hands for unloading.
  • Inside Delivery: Brings the shipment inside your property.
  • Limited Access: For deliveries to locations with restricted truck access.

Let us know in advance if you’ll need any of these services so we can coordinate with the freight company.

Delivery Time

You’ll receive a delivery window for your shipment. Make sure you and your helpers are available during this time to ensure a smooth process.

By understanding these details and preparing accordingly, you can look forward to a seamless delivery experience. If you have any questions or need help arranging special services, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
